Our fireplace brick is one of the most asked about materials in our home. The material is a brick veneer handmade by Arto Brick. They offer a variety of handmade tiles and bricks in many different colors- so, to answer the frequently asked question, no, our brick was not painted- we purchased it in this specific color (Rice). No two bricks are the same and we love that about this material.
Quick Tip for keeping your fireplace brick clean
We religiously vacuum the hearth to keep as much soot as possible off of it since we have a wood burning fireplace, but it’s inevitable to keep the smoke from settling on the brick, so when we need to clean the brick up, we use the simple solution below along with some elbow grease.
- Vacuum the brick and wipe off any dust and debris.
- Fill a spray bottle with equal parts vinegar and water.
- Spray directly onto the dark areas & let it sit for a few minutes.
- Wipe with a sponge or cloth.
- Allow the area to dry. (It will look worse before it looks better) We used a blow dryer to speed along the drying process.
- Repeat if necessary.
We recently switched out the mirror above our mantle for this antique brass framed mirror and we love how much it compliments the antique brass match holder (family heirloom), but we knew we needed to incorporate another brass element in our living room so we decided to switch our black nesting side tables with this brass table and it was the perfect addition!
Tip for Long-Lasting Flowers
These florals are one week old and left over from my surprise birthday party last weekend. To enjoy the florals a bit longer, we always- Cut the bottom of the stems at an angle and place in warm/hot water every morning to extend their life!
Favorite Pitchers to use as Vases
We often find ourselves investing in beautiful pitchers since they double as both vessels for your favorite liquids and vases to hold your favorite greenery & florals. Below we have sourced some of our go-to pitchers, just click on the photo to shop!
