We signed off on our plans last week and couldn’t wait any longer to start dreaming up what the exterior of our home could look like! So, we opened up our 2D renderings in Photoshop and created patterns and overlaid them onto the home and created texture and colors. Note, we are not professionals at color elevations- in fact, this is our first time doing this… it isn’t perfect but it definitely gives us a feel for how the colors and materials will look on our home.
First, this is what we started with…
Before we get to the color elevations, we want to tell you a little bit about our layout and the materials we have chosen- You can see the main entry on the front with the front porch to the right, and the middle connection space is our laundry room and it connects our garage/studio space to our main living area. The laundry room and garage/studio sit on the back right elevation of the home. The majority of our home will be white brick with Hardie siding on our front porch and studio area above our garage. We are also deciding between cedar or Hardie board & batten on our laundry room OR brick. The overall aesthetic of our home is a modern traditional farmhouse with English influence.
Ok, now onto the fun part! The three color elevations!
Three Exterior Options
In this option, you will see we designed it by using natural brick on the entry, white brick overall, with white horizontal Hardie siding on our front porch which ties into the siding on the studio above the garage. We also decided to go dark on our laundry room with a dark grey board and batten and matching trim around the windows where there is Hardie siding.
Same as Option 1, but with all white brick on the entry instead of natural brick.
In this option, we decided to carry the natural brick to the laundry room to match the entry and add a white dutch door to this area. We also lightened the trim around the porch and studio windows by making them white instead of dark grey.
Which option do you like best? Vote below and we would love for you to comment and tell us why you chose the one you did!
What do you guys think overall? We each love different things about each one and currently don’t have a favorite so we are so interested in hearing your thoughts! Below we have listed more details on the materials we chose.
