Today we are revealing a new project we are going to be tackling! It is the only “room” in our home that we have never shared- our seven year old son’s room! We have neglected this space since we moved in over six years ago… he was just two when we moved in and was still in his crib, then we transitioned him to a toddler bed and eventually into his big boy twin bed a couple of years ago and the room is now always just filled with LEGO! He still has the same dresser that was in his nursery, and we are going to be giving that a little update as well as finally updating his entire room!
Here is what the room looks like now (on a good day)! It’s not bad, it just needs some updating!
We had the room painted Sherwin-Williams Light French Gray (same as our master bathroom) when we moved in, but somewhere along the way I decided I wanted a white accent wall (I guess to look like that wall forgot to be painted, LOL).
So here is our inspiration board for the space and what we will be doing!
First, we decided to use some leftover bead board panelling we had in storage and put that up on the wall that we painted white. We will then paint the millwork and wall the same color as the rest of the room- Sherwin-Williams Light French Gray. Our goal is for the millwork to not provide contrast on the wall, but dimension and texture! We are also going to paint his picture ledges the same gray for a seamless look.
His Pottery Barn dresser that matched the rest of his nursery furniture is the only piece we have kept all of these years and since it is a solid wood dresser, we have decided to give it a fresh update by painting it black and adding new hardware.
We will also be painting his bed white for a fresh look and to provide some contrast in the space. He is also getting new bedding and a few accessories! See below for all of the sources we used in his design board.
