before & after
This little area of our site is a work in progress as we continue to update our home, but we wanted to tell you a little bit about our Modern Cottage. Built in the 1960s, our home lives on about 1 acre of land. When we acquired our home, it was in rough shape as you will be able to see in the before photos below. We completely tore everything down to the studs and added square feet to the front and back of the original structure. All together, our home is about 1880 square feet and has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (the original structure only had 1 bathroom, our master bathroom was added which was previously the kitchen) You can also see our home is nestled under four 100+ yr old Oak Trees which provides ample shade all year round.
As mentioned above, you will notice the before photos of our Living Room & Dining Room are both during construction; this is because our Living & Dining Rooms (commonly referred to as our Front Room) was an addition we added on to the front of our home.
The only before photo we have of this little room is the other side of the after shot. All three windows in this room stayed in the same place, we just had to update the windows to code.
It's funny looking at the before of this space. I remember right after we moved in, using what we had to make our back porch a cozy space and I was so proud of it. Fast forward 5 1/2 years and the after brings us so much joy. We cannot wait to finish styling this space. You can read our blogpost here for our design plan.
We chose to make this B&A a triptych so you can see the true before of our home on the far left, what our home looked like when we moved in in the middle photo (the screened in porch was an add on), and an after on the right which is what our home looks like now since converting our screened in porch to a sunroom. Full Sunroom coming to the blog soon!
Some areas are not pictured like our Front Exterior, Front Porch, Full Back Exterior. Sunroom Reveal, Laundry/Master Closet, & also our oldest son's bedroom. All of these areas are getting updates and will be added to this gallery soon!
