Today, I am finally sharing our favorite muted green paint colors along with a first look at our exterior plans for our new build.
As many of you know, we painted our sunroom Urbane Bronze by Sherwin-Williams a couple of years ago and this space has evolved into my favorite room in the house. It is calming and cozy, warm and inviting and just has that feeling of home to me. Since we started designing our new build, I have been back and forth trying to decide what room we could paint this color since I know I am going to miss this space.
Note- the color reads darker in our sunroom since it is an interior room and also more shaded from our large Oak trees over our home, so using the color as an exterior color wouldn’t look quite as dark as it does in our sunroom.
Fast forward to us making design decisions on our exterior… I have also gone back and forth on whether to do a classic white exterior or dark exterior. Since windows are something that will need to be ordered soon, I have to decide on an exterior color of our home to know what color windows to go with. I am not big on contrasting windows, so I want to make sure I make the right design choice for our exterior taking everything into account from our location, nature, surroundings…
If you follow along on Instagram, you know we removed 41 Pine Trees from the pasture (our property) 2 months ago. Since removing all of the green from the pad where our home will sit, I am struggling with the idea of a white exterior. I do not want the house to stick out and to feel like it doesn’t belong; rather, I would like the home to feel like an extension of the property and for it to naturally blend with it’s surroundings. With the intentionality around this thought, I kept landing on a muted traditional colonial green paint color.
Below, you can see the architectural drawings of our exterior…
Design-wise, here is the direction we are currently thinking…
- Wood Doors
- Copper Lighting
- Faux Copper Gutters
- Deep Brown Shingles and Standing Seam Metal Roof
- Andersen 400 Windows in color Terratone
- Muted Green Paint Color like SW Urbane Bronze
- Black Hardware
Below are some of our favorite muted green paint colors. Top left is Urbane Bronze by Sherwin-Williams which is the same color of our sunroom and the same color we currently have in our design board above.
I hope these paint colors are helpful for any of you looking for the perfect muted green paint color!
Hi! We are thinking of changing our black and white house to a muted green, but I’m debating if I should paint the trim the same green or make it an accent. Did you ever land on painting yours green? If so, what was your trim?
Thanks!
I think we are actually going to do a creamy white instead. So many decisions, but a classic creamy white feels the most traditional for our build. However, I am not a big fan of accent trim. I recommend painting the exterior all the same color.
