Neutral Fall Mantel With Foraged Branches

September 4, 2020

After sharing a few stories over on Instagram yesterday, we realized this vintage vessel on our mantel was in need of something… after trying a few different dried florals and pampas, we decided to go outside and look for some branches.

Get the Look

In Florida, everything is pretty green right now, errr in the process of turning brown, but we did manage to find some acorn branches in our front yard that were the perfect scale and color!

It is important to keep spread in mind when working with foraged or faux branches. You also need to take the opening of your vessel into consideration- since ours is very narrow, it was important we chose branches that had a variated wide spread in both left and right directions instead of going just straight up or to the same side- this is what will give you an organic and relaxed feel.

You all know how much we love vintage dough bowls and decided to grab one to hold a few logs of cut firewood. We love that the look is still natural and organic but a little bit more clean looking instead of the wood just being stacked on the hearth.

Quick throw styling tip? Take one corner of your blanket and fold it into the opposite corner on the opposite end of the blanket, hold in the middle, and loosely drape the blanket over the side of a chair or sofa. Once placed, take your hand and swoop the tassels outward and make sure the tag is hidden. Place a pillow on top of the throw in the chair. Also, don’t overthink it. 😉

Sometimes, all a space needs are a few foraged branches… nature is always surprising and beautiful.

We hope you enjoyed this simple and natural mantel design with foraged branches. If you decide to forage and bring some of the outdoors in, be sure to share and tag us on Instagram- @laineandlayne
