We spent the last few days sowing some seeds into our garden after doing some major cleanup from the winter months. It is hard to believe we are already in spring and experiencing 80º weather. In Northeast Florida zone 9a our spring weather is most gardener’s summer weather so our planting season looks a little bit different, but I have had some questions as to what we are planting so I thought it would be easiest to put together this post and to share everything we are planting.
It has been a while since we last shared a garden post– truth is, last summer’s growing season was hard… it was so hot and we were attacked left and right with pests or the dreaded heat. We also didn’t properly replenish our soil before planting last year which I think greatly hurt us so at the end of this post, I am sharing what soil and fertilizer we are using.
We purchase all of our seeds from Johnny’s Seeds.

A lot of our herbs are mixed in with our vegetables in our garden beds.
Soil
After pulling things up and cleaning the beds from winter, we tilled the soil and added 4-5 bags to each garden bed of this soil. This is the soil my Mom used in her garden and has had a lot of great success. I also added Coco Coir to the containers where I am growing our flowers. I also purchased this to use once our plants are producing vegetables.
Are you planting anything this spring? Would love to know what some of your favorite things to grow are!
