When I was drawing the plans for this house, I knew we wouldn’t have a big entry but I wanted to make sure there was at least enough space for a small entry cabinet, mirror, greenery… just something that was welcoming for our family and friends.
Thankfully, we have just that and I had so much fun putting this space together.

Shop The Entry

Here are things that I think make a great entry…
- Mirror
- Seasonal Foliage
- Something Personal, like family photos
- Lighting
- A Welcoming Scent

Styling in Odd Groupings
Even though I have more than 3 items on the surface of this entry cabinet, I essentially styled it in 3 groups- First, the tray corrals all of the items together making it feel cohesive instead of cluttered. The lamp acts as it’s own group, and the last group is a seasonal scent and leaf object to hold the used match.
The trick to making faux branches look realistic? Mix with real branched and add water to the vase.

These candles are the only ones we burn in our home- they are clean and don’t cause any headaches or sneezing and there are so many great scents that make your home feel like a warm hug. You can browse our favorite candles here– they also make great gifts! Shop with our code LAINEANDLAYNE20 for 20% off.

I chose a glass lamp to not take up too much visual space since the area is smaller and I love that it feels classic and simple.
Also, gone are the days when we aren’t displaying family photos… I remember when we first started L&L back in 2015 and when I was styling our home and sharing with all of you and we never had any family photos in the house because I thought they were tacky- then I remembered hearing someone say, “how sad to walk into a home and not know the family that lived here”. Since moving into this home, I have been going through all of our old photos (and new) to display a collection of memories.

The small black and white photo is a photo of my great-grandparents who use to own the land we built our home on. If only I could tell him thank you for this gift.

Next up? I think I will update those light switch plates, swap the fall foliage for winter greens, add a wreath to the mirror possibly?… maybe add an umbrella holder with some vintage umbrellas… who knows, but for now I am enjoying this cozy corner of our home.
