Everyday Dinner Traditions & My Kitchen Essentials

January 30, 2026

What is an everyday tradition? A small, intentional, and recurring action, that creates belonging and brings comfort, stability, and connection to our home.

Our Everyday Dinner Traditions

A home cooked meal before 7pm, with a candle lit, a cup of tea with dinner, gathering around the table for dinner, a simple prayer and conversation, and a clean kitchen before the night ends.

The reality? Some nights the kids complain about the meal and a drink almost always gets spilled… but the connection this tradition brings is always worth it.

Remember, meals don’t have to be complicated to be nutritious and enjoyed. One of our family’s favorite ways to eat potatoes is cut up Gold Potatoes, heavily drizzled in Olive Oil with Salt, Pepper, Garlic, Red Pepper Flakes, and Paprika and baked on 425º for one hour. Once soft, top with butter, sour cream, shredded cheese and chives (just as you would a loaded baked potato).

Favorite Repeated Dinner Ideas — Soup, Spaghetti, Tacos, Creamy Sage Chicken & Rice, Baked Potatoes & BBQ Chicken, Dutch Oven Chicken & Vegetables, Chuck Roast & Vegetables, Filets & Mashed Potatoes, Lemon Chicken Pasta

Lighting a candle before dinner prep always sets the mood and helps to elevate the cooking experience, in my opinion of course 😉 You can shop my favorite candles here with code LAINEANDLAYNE20

A clean kitchen before the night ends sets the tone for the next morning. Sure, we might not always feel like it, but your future self will thank you. These are my favorite natural cleaning products which you can shop with code LAINEANDLAYNE20 for 20% off.
