How to Print Digital Art

June 30, 2021

If you missed this post, The Laine & Layne Collection with Vintage Supply, a curated art collection, launched on Monday, and we know digital art can sometimes be overwhelming- how to print the art, how to frame the art, how to style the art… we are going to be talking about all of these points kickstarting with how to print your digital art.

You’ve purchased and downloaded your digital art… so, now what?

Let’s get your art printed and displayed in your home… but first, you need to think about how you want to frame your art.

Are you planning on framing WITH glass, or WITHOUT? (photo below shows artwork framed without glass)

Here’s how to decide and why you need to determine this first…

Is your art representative of a vintage painting, like an oil or acrylic on canvas? If your art is a landscape or portrait painting, the original piece of art was likely painted with the intent of being framed without glass. In this case, we recommend framing your art WITHOUT glass to look the most authentic.

If your art is a watercolor painting, ink, charcoal, line drawing, or etching, then most likely it was created by the artist with the intent to frame with glass.

After you have determined how you want to frame your art, let’s get it ordered!

  • Go to MPIX.com > Prints > New Giclee Prints
(Giclee printing provides higher image detail than traditional photographic printing)
  • Upload your art and choose your size
  • Change your Paper from Glossy to Fine Art Photographic
(Fine Art Photographic Paper is a thick matte paper with a subtle watercolor texture)
  • Change Mount/Frame to ‘Matboard’ if framing without glass
(having your print hot-pressed onto matboard gives a more sturdy foundation and allows you to frame your art easily without using glass)
  • Change Mount/Frame to ‘None’ if framing with glass
  • Add art to your cart and place your order
(MPIX.com has a pretty quick turnaround and your art usually arrives within two business days after placing your order!)

One last tip… MPIX.com is always sending out discount codes on prints, so be sure you are signed up to receive their promotional emails!
