We have been living in our Modern Cottage for almost 6 years now and we finally have finished the smallest bedroom in the house- our two year old son’s room. When we first moved in, this room was our office, and then it became more of a storage room until our second son was born and we decided to dedicate this space to him.
Ultimately what inspired us to finish this room is this beautifully designed modern lamp by Gantri. We knew their new Sky color would be perfect in this space!
We love collecting children’s books- old and new. We have listed some of our favorites at the bottom of the post.
Like we mentioned, this room is the smallest room in the entire house with this little cutout. We knew we wanted to add vertical tongue and groove to this cutout to make this area seem more intentional, and fortunately his crib converted toddler bed fits perfectly in this space!
We made this little cloud pillow by cutting out two matching cloud shapes of felt material, laying them on top of one another, hand-stitching the sides (leaving a small opening for the stuffing), filling the cloud with stuffing from a local craft store, and finishing up the stitching.
We’ve shared this photography tip before, but remember if you are photographing a room with artwork and the glare from the glass is highly reflective, just remove the glass for the photo 😉
That vintage artwork is Justin’s profile from when he was a little boy. Him and our second son have very similar profiles, so we loved being able to use this special piece in this room.
This rocker has been in almost every room of our home- first our master bedroom, then the living room, and now here. We absolutely love it- aesthetically and comfortability, unfortunately, it is no longer available, but we did source some of our favorites at the end of the post.
Using natural toys such as wooden LEGO, double as great decor pieces in a child’s room.
Seeing him in his own room and in his own element has been so rewarding for us.
