Coincidently enough, the last time we shared our mantel was Christmas Day last year. This year, for our mantel, we focused on transitional pieces that will easily carry us from Christmas to the winter season- like this fireplace screen that you can see us using here… it is functional and the doors open so easily!

This is also our first year using faux garland (y’all know how I am about faux), but we are really impressed, it looks and feels real and has been such a nice change. We added little copper wire lights and mini pinecones to the garland.
Another thing I love is the live Olive and Myrtle Leaf Wreath that has the prettiest texture. We hung it with some hand-ripped fabric as ribbon and we aged these bells that you can read about here.
We also went with a faux tree this year and we are not one bit disappointed… It looks so real, we hardly had to fluff it at all and the shape and color are perfect! Every one who has seen it thinks it is real. We purchased the 7′ Faux Norway Spruce (unlit) from here– it sells out quick every year so be sure to keep an eye out for when it comes back in stock!
Speaking of our tree, usually I want a more natural and minimal look, but this year I wanted a fuller nostalgic tree- we used a mix of vintage, new, and handmade ornaments. When my mom saw our tree this year she said “it reminds me of Mom’s tree”… which was a great feeling- the vintage glass bells on our tree were my Grandmother’s.
We used a mix of Ivory wrapping paper and Italian wrapping paper this year and love how it gives the same nostalgic feeling as our Christmas Tree.
I love the modern take on this vintage-inspired nutcracker. It has a nice wood-tone and blends nicely with our decor and mantel.
We installed this mantel just a couple of months ago… if you have been around, you know we have gone through a few mantels, but we were both craving something that was the same tone as our coffee table and this one was perfect and so easy to install!
As I mentioned above, this fireplace screen might just be my favorite thing in this whole space. Every fireplace screen we have had in the past, we would have to pick up and move to access the fireplace, so this screen being as functional as it is has been so nice!
