Natural Skincare Routine for a Healthy Complexion

I have honestly tried it all… and at 31 years old, I finally feel like my skincare routine is exactly where it needs to be. Sure there are things I may try and add here and there, like this Gua Sha Stone I have been wanting to implement into my routine, but the products I love and use now have really helped to transform my skin and today I am excited to share them with you!

I first want to preface this post by saying I have very sensitive skin- I have had severe burn reactions on my face from “natural” cleansers and masks, swollen eyes and extreme breakouts from trying popular brand’s products. I also have combination skin, so certain products will either dry my face out too much which will cause breakouts or will leave my face too oily which would also cause breakouts. It wasn’t until about four years ago, when I was pregnant with Avery, that I discovered Ambersea Apothecary (which use to be called Min.Erbs before they rebranded earlier this year) and decided to make the switch to try a truly natural product. Ambersea Apothecary is a small batch company in Oregon who uses natural ingredients to formulate their herbal-rich products.

I started by trying their Day Cream and Night Cream, Nursing Salve, and Baby Butter years ago and have gradually formulated my Skincare Routine incorporating a handful of their popular and loved products.

My Skincare Routine

STEP 01 : I start by splashing my face with cold water first thing in the mornings… this really helps to waken up your cells, soothe your eyes, and tighten your pores.

STEP 02 : I then apply 3-4 drops of Snow Drops which is a Hyaluronic Serum all over my face.

STEP 03 : Next, I apply about a pea size amount of Day Cream to my face before applying my makeup.

The Day & Night Creams are hydrating without being oily or heavy, which is perfect in helping to aid a balanced complexion and minimizing breakouts.

STEP 04 OIL CLEANSING : About a year and a half ago I started using this Cleansing Oil to remove my makeup at the end of the day and to cleanse my face. I was really intrigued by the science behind oil cleansing (oil breaks down oil) and decided to give it a try and have been hooked ever since! I have found it has really helped to balance my skin better than the traditional soap based cleansers. Keep in mind it takes about 2-3 weeks for your skin to adjust to the idea of oil cleansing, same with switching to a natural deodorant, your body just needs time to expel the toxins and transition to a new all-natural product. I may need to dedicate another post just to oil cleansing, but essentially I will use half of a dropper full of the oil and massage all into my face and over/around my eyes before getting in the shower. Once I am in the shower, I take a hot washcloth and hold over my face for a minute or so to really open up my pores and then wipe off my makeup.

STEP 05 : After I remove my makeup and/or get out of the shower, I will apply 2-3 pumps of the Calmative Hydrating Gel Tonic onto my damp face.

STEP 06 : After the Gel Tonic sets and dries onto my face, I apply a pea size amount of Night Cream all over my face and Eye Cream around my eyes.

01 Drink plenty of water throughout the day including a glass of water first thing in the morning before finishing your cup of coffee (or tea)

02 Limiting your amount of sugar intake

03 Having a balanced diet and healthy gut
