I love styling fresh or foraged greenery in spaces and how it can really bring a room to life- if you saw yesterday’s post for Day One of the challenge, then you saw we used fresh seeded Eucalyptus (which we found at our local grocery store), but often times, especially during these colder months, it isn’t always easy to fill our rooms with fresh greenery.

Today, I am sharing an alternative to fresh florals- preserved! We have added in some dried hydrangeas into our bathroom and I love the subtle color that it brings into the space.

Quick Tip :

When searching for preserved or dried hydrangeas (I sourced some above), pay attention to the stems and make sure the ones you purchase have stems that are a decent length to go down into a vase. We added rocks in the bottom of our vase for the stems to go down into to keep them secure and in place where we want them.

This vase is a DIY that we shared here in one of our Instagram highlights– we purchased this Terra Cotta vase and then spray painted it, rubbed some dirt on it, added some craft paint in areas, and then sealed it! Love how it turned out!

What do you think about the preserved hydrangeas? Would you try them? I love the feminine touch they add to the rustic vase on my vanity.

Also, wanted to note that while the preserved hydrangeas are likely sprayed with an aerosol such as hairspray or something to keep them in tact, they will still shed some flowers, which is ok! We actually recently sprayed ours again before handling them and arranging them in the vase. And if we are being real transparent, an open flame under hair-sprayed florals is not the way to go- haha… may or may not have a few small burn marks on the flowers.
